Medical regulatory body complaints

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (“HPCSA”) is constituted to, amongst other things, regulate and where appropriate, sanction medical professionals for unethical or unprofessional conduct.

Any member of the public may lay a complaint against a treating medical professional. Very often, these complaints are without merit, vexatious and frivolous. Nevertheless, the medical professional is expected to respond to such complaints, in writing, and to address the cause of the complaint. The powers of the HPCSA are wide, and can include fines and a complete prohibition from practicing, should a medical professional found to have acted unprofessionally.

HJW Attorneys has a 100% track record in defending medical professionals against complaints laid against them at the HPCSA. If you find yourself in this unenviable position, do not hesitate to call us to assist you in defending your position, and ensuring that your reputation and your practice can continue long into the future.
